Cooperative Education Incentive

The Cooperative Education Incentive provides private sector, government-funded and non-profit organizations 50% of the required minimum hourly wage of $15/hour for the hiring of Co-op students.

The student must work at least 35 hours per week for at least 12 weeks, in order to qualify for Co-op. A work term will be funded for a maximum of 16 weeks of continuous employment within this period. Note: Private companies in receipt of IRAP or SR&ED tax credits are eligible to receive 50% of the hourly wage to a maximum of $10/hour.

Approvals will be based on the opportunity for increased productivity, career-related experience, and future opportunities to retain students in full-time, long-term employment in Nova Scotia.
