How to Apply

 

Applications for the 2023-2024 year are now closed.

Applications to the Co-op program will reopen in August 2024.

 

Minimum Requirements
 
Undergraduate
  1. Enrolled as a full-time* student in a degree program offering the Co-op Option (Degrees With Co-op)
  2. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  3. Students must have a minimum of 24 credit hours completed at the time of application
  4. Students who have completed more than 75 credit hours towards their degree are no longer eligible to join co-op. However, if students have switched programs, and have 45 or more credit hours left to complete in their new program, they are eligible to apply.
Graduate
  1. Enrolled as a full-time* student in a degree program offering the Co-op Option (Degrees With Co-op)
  2. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  3. Students apply at the beginning of their first year

*Full-time is defined as enrolled in three or more courses (or enrolled in a thesis course for graduate students) required for graduation during the in-class semester preceding a co-op work term and the in-class semester following a co-op work term. If a student is registered with Accessibility Services on campus, they may be considered full-time if taking a minimum of two courses per term.

 

Program Requirements

Once accepted to the co-op program, you'll be required to complete the professional development curriculum outlined below.

Fall Professional Development Intensive

During the Fall Professional Development Intensive, you'll complete three foundational workshops in one day:

  • Introduction to Co-op & Job Search
  • Resume Writing
  • Cover Letter Writing

Once accepted into the co-op program, you'll select one of the three dates to attend.

October 2024

Assignments 1-3

Upon completing the Fall Professional Development Intensive, you'll be assigned Professional Development Assignments 1-3.

  • Assignment 1 will include reading and signing the Co-op Student Agreement, Student Conduct Standards, and the Student Handbook.
  • Assignment 2 will include writing and editing your resume using the strategies taught during the intensive. Extra resume-writing support may be provided.
  • Assignment 3 will include writing a cover letter.

October-November 2024

Intake Appointment

Once you've completed Professional Development Assignments 1-3, you will have an Intake Meeting with your assigned Co-op Coordinator. During this meeting, your Coordinator will begin working with you toward your professional goals.

October-November 2024

Winter Professional Development Intensive

During the Winter Professional Development Intensive, you'll complete three specialized workshops in one day:

  • LinkedIn and Networking
  • Interview Prep & Practice
  • Business Communications and Strategies for Success

After meeting with your Co-op Coordinator, you'll select one of the dates to attend.

January-February 2025

Assignments 4-6

Upon completing the Winter Professional Development Intensive, you'll be assigned Professional Development Assignments 4-6.
